Land & Development - Sandford Court
We are proud to be offering the first for Chelmsford and possibly one of the most eco-friendly properties of this type in the country which could set the standard for how houses will have to be built in the future.
Local housebuilder, Alec Oakley Limited, is behind Sandford Court, the development in Sandford Road, which offers seven apartments, two maisonettes and two houses. But what makes these ten properties different is that they have been built utilising some of the most innovative products and techniques in the world.
As a result, the company hopes to be awarded one of the highest possible marks for an eco-friendly home by BREEAM, the world’s most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings.
This will enable buyers to qualify for a DISCOUNTED ECO MORTGAGE from a specialist lender, resulting in buyers saving on their mortgage repayments.
Further significant savings will be made on annual heating and hot water running costs, making the properties economical to run on all aspects of costs.
Roger Thomason, director of the company, said: “I have been in the house-building business since 1973 but increasingly in recent years, I have wanted to build homes which are eco-friendly. I believe these homes at Sandford Court takes eco-friendly to a new level and will set the standard by which all new homes will soon have to be built if they are to comply with future government legislation”, said
The homes boast a combination of ground-breaking features which include:
- ultra-thick insulation to wall, floors and ceilings
- organic and linseed oil paints from Sweden
- state-of-the-art triple glazed windows produced by Norwegian company, with an ultra-low 0.7 U value
- thermal solar roof panels to some properties
- under-floor heating via an A-rated gas boiler
- low energy light fittings throughout
- a rainwater harvester which collects rainwater and uses it to feed toilets and the washing machine
- dual flush toilets (2.5 & 4.5 litres)
- special taps sourced from Sweden which reduce the amount of water being used whilst maintaining a high-pressure effect.
All the homes have two bedrooms and most have two bathrooms. Each property has allocated parking and the communal gardens can be enjoyed without the hard work.
“With rapidly rising energy bills, these homes will save purchasers a fortune in fuel bills. They have also been designed to ensure maintenance charges are minimised to reduce running costs. In addition, with the thickness of the walls and triple-glazing, they will be incredibly quiet and peaceful.”
Prices at Sandford Court are to be released shortly and a show home is due for opening in May. In the meantime, further information can be obtained from Owen Lyons on 01245 256666.
